“A talent…or two”

For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every man  according to his several  (own) ability; and straightway he took his journey.”  Matthew 24:14,15

When you thinking about this verse, something become quite clear.  The master is going away, he will be leaving his affairs in the care of those he has already chosen, he called his own servants, he did not leave the care of his “household” to those who did not know him and would not have the best interests of his kingdom in mind.  So the servants were very aware of their obligation to him.

He then divided the talents, his money, his goods,  among them according to the abilities he knew that they possessed, because he had also given them those abilities, he had already taught them, he had already trained them in every single aspect of the family business.

And they were only responsible for  what they had been entrusted with. And each was responsible for their own.

Just as God does not send one to do anthers job and if that person chooses to hide that talent and does absolutely nothing to “grow it” and do not even make any effort to fulfill their responsibility then that “talent” is given to the one who already had the most.

Why? Because as Jesus said,  same passages of scripture, Matthew 24:23: “His Lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; …”

Whatever God has given you today,  EMBRACE IT, GROW IT, & USE IT and we know how scary that can be, just as the servant who was afraid and hid that talent that he had been entrusted with.

The choice to follow the call of God and to make the best of every thing he has given you can be scary but God will NEVER hold your failures against you.

If you have to try to increase that talent fifteen different ways UNTIL you find the right avenue, the “sweet spot” that will yield increase for the kingdom.

The secret is just not giving up and keep reaching, keep trying, because God will never send you to do something that he hasn’t already divinely equipped you to do.

He has given us all a “talent” or two and he left what you do with it UP TO YOU, the master LEFT and went on his journey and the servants didn’t have to give an answer UNTIL he returned! Just as Jesus left us as HIS lights in this world and to bring in his harvest for his return. So have something to show for what he has given you, at least have attempts made at increasing his goods and using what you have been given. And at least you may get an A for effort!
