PENTECOST/ BREAD AND FIRE

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a mighty rushing wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven (divided) tongues of fire and it sat upon each of them. And

they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:1-4
Now that was being in the right place at the right time.
We have to be mindful of that because sometimes our thinking gets clouded or the enemy works through another to actually prevent you from being with the right people in the right place.
A place predestined of God, just as Jesus had commanded they stay in Jerusalem until they were endued with the power from on high.
There are several interesting aspects to all of this, Jesus always revealed himself during the breaking of bread, every time the disciples got together to pray, this later included Paul, they always had the breaking of the bread and mighty wonders happened.
Jesus is the bread of life. “give us this day our daily bread”.

You have to have that bread, his word, his presence every single day.
You could probably argue they were just hungry guys, but what if the majority of these bread takings were actually united communion?
The need to be “in one mind”, everyone’s thoughts, again completely unified to the glory of the Lord and desire to see his will be done.

It is hard now to get two or three on the same page, (as Jesus said there he will be in the midst) but it is an awesome task to attempt to have what they did, one hundred and twenty people in one mindset.

We have one group who wants to see the power of God, complete with the often misunderstood manifestation of the Spirit, the gift of speaking in tongues, either angelic languages or speaking directly  to God, or in a language to give message to someone that through it will be assured this is truly from God, or a message from him to be interpreted to the church either of encouragement or warning.

Prophecy such as the revelation of the deepest troubles of another’s soul to confirm he does know and he does care.

Miracles and healings that would trouble the minds of some because it cannot be explained away.

The Holy Ghost coming with a force so strong that to even attempt to hold back his will would be the equivalent of trying to stand on a railroad track and hold back a freight train.
Others want an organized, feel good outpouring involving just basking in the glow from that fire, rather than being adorned by it, covered in it, as ministers of the Lord are to be.

That “modern” ideal on how things will play out would be more pretty than powerful.
The divided tongues of fire, being filled with fire as God is a consuming fire and fire being shown as the acceptance of the offering of praise and prayer.
I truly believe when God said to seek the old paths, he meant revive those customs and feasts to him that had stood since he brought the children out of Egypt.
I know the common belief that we do not follow Jewish tradition but these feasts are not tradition.

They are times and days holy to God. They are his traditions.
We would be well to remember them and keep them.
Pentecost, also known as the feast of first fruits, feast of weeks, and feast of harvest.

Do you see it for what it was?
When the Holy Ghost was given on Pentecost it was a celebration of the first fruits of a kind, which is what he has called us.
We are those first fruits and we will be keeping the feast to celebrate the harvest to end all harvests, the great harvest of souls from the earth.
When he begins his reign on earth, in New Jerusalem,  we are required to keep his feasts!
“And it shall be, that whoso will not come  up of all the all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.

And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the Lord will smite the heathen that COME NOT UP TO KEEP THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES;

This shall be the punishment of all nations that come up not to keep the feast of tabernacles.”    Zechariah 14:14-19
Sounds like it’s pretty important to him, so it better be important to us!
